Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1770-1780.

Walnut tall-case clock. The hood has a molded cornice with a molded arch above the door with a carved keystone, free-standing turned columns at the four corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with ogee molding at the top, turned quarter columns at the front corners, and a case door with a shaped serpentine top. Base with ogee and ovolo molding at the top, turned quarter columns at the front corners, an applied base panel with a shaped serpentine top, ogee molding at the bottom and supported on ogee bracket feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals, arabic minute numerals, and arabic numerals indicating the day of the month, applied cast ornament in the spandrels, a moon phase dial in the lunette and the inscription "Tempus Fugit" in the lunette arch. Engraved chevron border. Inside the chapter ring there is a seconds dial, engraved vines and leaves, and the inscription "B Rittenhouse Worcester Fecit." Eight day movement.
